The food-izing of common household products

Food is everywhere, we all know that.  You cannot attend a social function, go to work, watch TV or do just about anything else without food being part of it.  Even at the gym, misinformed people down Gatorade and eat Power Bars, completely erasing the benefits of their workout.

And now it gets worse. What I'm seeing just about everywhere is regular household products being turned into food items.  There are many examples of this, but I will highlight a few of them today:


First up: VO5's "Passion Fruit Smoothie" shampoo.

Really?  Do we need to be reminded of food every time we wash our hair?  What's next....cheesecake flavored shampoo?


And this is the most outrageous example of them all: Reese's Pieces flavored lip balm:

Yes, this is a real product. I have seen it for sale in the store.  Are you kidding me?  What's next? Bacon-flavored toothpaste?  Oh wait, somebody already thought of that...

One year later: 362



It's hard for me to believe, but it's been a year since I was rushed to the emergency room.  And what a year it has been. I weighed today and came in at 362 pounds.  In the last year, I have been able to lose 215 pounds. I'm definitely very happy with that.

I used to lie to people when they would ask me how to lose weight.  I would say it was easy once you got started.  It isn't.  It's hard work.  And it takes hard work every day.  You have to be determined.  You have to stick to your eating plan when others around you are consuming unhealthy high-calorie meals.

When everybody else is at the bar drinking and talking about how much they want to lose weight, you have to be out doing it.  When everybody else is being lazy, you're up early out walking.

It's a lot of work, but it is the single most rewarding thing I have ever done. And I have had help along the way.

My family, without whom I would be dead.   If my parents hadn't been there to rush me to the hospital, I am certain I would have perished.  There wasn't time to wait for an ambulance.

Eat This or Eat That: Honey Bun vs. Healthy Lunch

It is amazing how calorie-dense and nutritionally worthless vending machine food is.

On the right, we have the 610-calorie Super Jumbo Honey Bun....on the left, we have a healthy lunch of a turkey sub, watermelon and Greek yogurt.

Same number of calories. Which one is going to fill you up? Which "meal" will make you feel better?

People often observe that I eat constantly, but if you eat healthy food items...the calorie count isn't as high and you can eat more.

Today's weigh-in: 367

Weighed in today and came in at 367 pounds. That's only a 4 pound loss in the last 2 weeks and the lowest loss in that amount of time since I started. Some observations:

-I haven't been doing much cardio these past 2 weeks, so I will increase that.

-I'm not changing what or how much I'm eating because I know it's the right amount and sometimes you just don't lose as much as you want.

Times like these...I just keep doing what I've been doing and enjoy the fact that I've lost 210 pounds in just under a year.
